Anti-pilling

Pilling, or the formation of fluff, is in itself a fairly normal and common phenomenon in textiles and upholstery fabrics. This is a direct result of friction and normal wear of the fabric.

Pilling mars the surface of the fabric, making it look unkempt and worn. On clothing, pilling is noticeable after just a few months, but upholstery fabrics are not immune either. In our lab, we can pre-test how susceptible a particular fabric is likely to be to the formation of fluff later in life. We do this using the Martindale wear test. Our specific anti-pilling treatments aim to significantly slow down the process of fluff formation.
