Sustainable and fire-resistant roof and façade covering for the construction sector
Customer request
A leading player in the construction sector was looking for an innovative covering for roofs and facades. The requirements were particularly stringent: the solution had to be weatherproof, UV-resistant, fire-retardant, waterproof, PFAS-free and breathable. Since several serious tower fires in London, European standards have been significantly tightened. The end product therefore had to meet the strictest safety and performance criteria.
Solution by Finipur:
The combination of properties presented a complex challenge. The material not only had to be durable and waterproof, but also sufficiently vapour-permeable to prevent condensation problems in buildings. In addition, the solution had to achieve a fire classification of A1 or A2-s1,d0, which is the highest standard in the sector.
Finipur developed an exclusive coating tailored to this customer's needs. Thanks to our specialised team and innovative technologies, we were able to meet all requirements:
- Water resistance: class W1 and W2
- Fire safety: compliant with fire class A1 or A2-s1,d0
- Breathability: very high vapour permeability (< 0.1 m)
- Standardisation: according to EN13859-1 or 2
- PFAS-free and therefore future-proof
This solution provides the customer with durable and safe roof and façade cladding that can be used in the most demanding projects.
In a second phase, we work with the customer to develop a customisable version of this material, whereby logos or lot numbers can be printed directly onto the covering. This gives the product not only functional added value, but also added value in terms of sales and traceability.
