Dip coating of textiles
Dip coating is a multi-purpose technique often used in textile finishing. Indeed, this method allows specific properties to be added to textiles and other flexible materials, such as waterproofing, fire retardancy, abrasion resistance, antibacterial properties and many others. In dip coating, a substrate is immersed in a bath filled with a liquid coating solution. The material is then taken out of the bath and pressed between two rollers (foulard) to drain off the excess solution. Afterwards, the substrate passes through a drying oven or stretching frame to dry out the substrate. During this process, an uniform layer of coating remains on the surface of the material. By adjusting the viscosity of the coating solution, the dipping time and the curing process, the thickness and composition of the coating can be precisely adjusted and adjusted if necessary. Finipur has an extensive dip coating line and therefore applies it for various applications in a variety of industries. Discover all about impregnation technology.

Benefits of Dip Coating
1. Functional Properties: Dip coating can provide textiles with properties such as water repellency (hydrophobic) or even water absorption (hydrophilic), depending on the coating. This is ideal for clothing, tents or medical applications.2. Durability: It protects materials from abrasion, chemicals and weathering. Think of industrial textiles that need to withstand extreme conditions.
3. Antibacterial Applications: Applying coatings with antibacterial substances makes textiles more hygienic and suitable for use in healthcare or the filter industry, for example.
